Jamie,

I have had similar experiences with corrupted stacks. Our students would
be working on stacks for a few days and then suddenly they would get
messages about resource fork errors, corrupted stacks, and unrecognizable
stacks. The HS support people sent us a fix for HS 2.0 that did the
trick. We have not had a problem with it since.

I have seen an evaluation copy of 3.0 and the new features have been
integrated nicely with the existing interface. I would suggest taking a
look at it. Our group is hoping to switch soon. I hope this helps.
