First, pop the cover off the LC II to verify that in the front left there
is, in fact, still a hard drive there! If it is, your troubleshooting
steps so far indicate it is either unplugged or broken. Just verify that
the flat gray ribbon cable is secure both into the hard drive and onto the
mother board (wiggle it a bit is the technical description!), and check the
power connector too. If these three physical checks indicate no problems,
it's probably the internal mechanism of the hard drive. If your district
has its own repair facility, you might let them look at it. Is the data on
the drive backed up? Do you need it? If not, it might be cheaper just to
buy a new drive that hassle with the repairs.
