Why not just get a direct educational purchase contract with Apple? No
dealer markup, and depending on annual volume you can get some major price
discounts. Even if your school doesn't buy enough to qualify, Apple has
individual education discount purchase programs.

On the other hand, I have never agreed with this particular policy of
Apple. It's another case of them trying to accomplish a good thing (making
sure education customers get support) but managing to shoot themselves in
both feet.
