Are you using a compression program of some sort ?
There is a tendency for some compression programs that are unstable,
(superdisk comes to mind) to kind of freak out and uncreate documents and
applications so that all your items in your hard drive eventually become
unreadable documents.
If this is your problem, there is a solution. YOu will need to decompress
your hard drive and get rid of that software as soon as possible.
