If you have a Mac, here are several shareware utilities that will allow
you to print, read, and slice and dice postscript files. I use one called
SendPS, but there are others. I would check at any of the big Mac
archives to see what is available.
If you use a PC, I would recommend GhostScript, also available on the
Net. The setup is somewhat convoluted for this product, and it takes
forever to print a file, but it does allow you to print out Postscript
files on a non-Postscript printer.
In general, most Mac printers are Postscript and most PC printers are not.
If you are downloading files from the Internet, be advised that many seem
to have postscript errors. You may wait 30-40 minutes only to be told
that an error has occurred. Adobe Acrobat is emerging as a new standard
on the Net with its PDF format. There is an Acrobat reader available
free for both Macs and PCs.
