Automated Lunch Service

Our superintendent asked me to check into the feasibility of automating
our lunch program. We are looking for software that would use something
like a bar code reader as students go through the lunch line and keep
track of whether they are free, reduced or full pay. For the students
who pay for lunches, it would also keep track of when they are out of
money (students can buy tickets for the day, week, or month).
If anyone out there uses an automated lunch system like this, I would be
interested in knowing what the software is and an address to write to for
information.
