RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Call for Applications
The NASA Classroom of the Future (COTF) is located in the Erma Ora Byrd
Center for Educational Technology on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit
University in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Curriculum materials and teacher education opportunities created at COTF
are closely aligned with the national science and mathematics education
standards. NASA has three types of resources to help schools improve the
quality of science and mathematics education as suggested in the national
standards: scientific expertise, scientific data, and advanced
instrumentation. COTF works closely with NASA personnel and other
scientists, developing new methods, tools, and materials to make these
resources available to K-12 students and teachers.
COTF provides K-12 schools a wide range of services including the
development and delivery of distance learning opportunities, model
inservice and preservice teacher education programs, the creation of
multimedia curriculum materials, the provision of Internet-accessible tools
and resources, and the publication of a variety of research reports,
monographs, and papers related to the application of advanced technologies
to educational settings.
COTF seeks researchers who can contribute to the research agenda in one or
more of the following areas: psychology, education, computer science,
educational technology, and alternative assessment. Applicants may select
from four different programs: NASA Summer Faculty Fellowship Program, COTF
Postdoctoral Research Program, COTF Doctoral Internship Program, and COTF
Summer Program for Graduate Students. All programs are contingent upon
funding.
