However I never took any typing class, but taught myself touch typing when I
felt the need for it.
My third-graders keyboard E-mail, slowly but with the correct fingering,
from the first day they are introduced to a computer, because they are
excited about communicating with distant cyberpals. The second day they use
the spell checker. The third day they learn how to save and retrieve their
files. Meanwhile and from then on, I help them discover how to write an
informative and interesting letter.
