Using MAC's on a Windows NT Network

Our elementary school is planning on installing a mini-computer lab this
fall. Orginally, we had planned to use MACS on a Windows NT server (our
library uses Follett software--PC based--all would be on same network). Then
an article appeared in the newspapers by Doron Levin with Knight-Ridder which
basically concluded that integrating MACS on networks with Microsoft/Windows
technology had many glitches and were expensive to fix. One of our school
board members (who has never been comfortable using a MAC) is opposed to us
proceeding with the MACs in the lab. We presently have stand-alone MACs in
the elementary classrooms and the teachers have been very happy with them. I
need input from any EDTECH member. Are the glitches as bad as was reported?
Should schools be moving away from MACs? Is there any resource that I can
share with the school board on this controversy? Thanks for your help. You
may reply via the listserve or directly to my e-mail.
