I just wanted to say thanks to those who responded to my request
for help. I was able to remove my internal modem and then I
activated the serial port 2 using the SETUP program stored in
ROM. (I learned about the SETUP program from the manual that
came with my computer). After this, my external modem worked
fine when plugged into serial port 2. However, this only lasted
for about two weeks. Now, every time I sign on the modem hangs
up right after it makes a connection. I know its the modem
because I plugged an older external 2400 baud modem into serial 2
and it works fine.

I have tried my 14.4 modem several times on two different systems
but the same thing always happens. (It was working fine on both
systems previously). I looked in the manual that came with the
modem but all the situations it suggested I know are not the case
(e.g. I don't have call waiting).

Strangely, the manual does not have any phone numbers, service
centers or even the name of the company printed anywhere. It's a
Zoom 14.4 V.32bis external modem.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks
