I Chair the Information Technology Committee at Trinity College School, a
co-education boarding and day school for 400 students located in Port Hope,
Ontario. We are in the process of formulating our Educational Technology
Plan and one of the issues under consideration is that of "laptop
saturation" - the school would provide the infrastructure, but each student
would be expected to provide his/her own laptop computer and software. A
Canadian University, Acadia, has recently decided to go this route, but I
don't know of any secondary schools that have such a policy. I would be very
interested in hearing from any schools (secondary or tertiary) that have
experience with "laptop saturation" programmes. Either reply to the list, or
directly to me at hedneyb@eagle.ca.
