I have used a keyboarding program called Touch Typing for Beginners
with my middle school students. I provide the techniques and also
have removed the top caps from the letter keys. They have done a
great job (6th graders) with this program. It provides timed writings
and drills as well as games. The teacher can choose the age level
and amount of time for the writings. I especially like the timed
writings because each writings is about English, math, science,
social studies or other useful facts rather than made-up sentences.
This program is made by Wicat but is being distributed thru IBM.
