Kathy, I have almost completed my CNE. The CNE program is 7 weeks of
classes(space the weeks how you like- Each class is 9-5 all (or most) of
the week). It has been expensive/intensive/extensive etc., but well worth
it.
Since the WAN you discuss would be stretching NT to it's limits (according
to novell instructors) and because schools tend to have at least some
Macintoshes,
It sound's like Novell is the way to go. A few suggestions:
-- Spending more now will save more later, i.e. an efficient, well
designed network now will save time, money and headache later.
-- Consulting companies charge less to set up a system than they do
to fix a big mess.
-- Spend the money to get at least 2 consultants to tell you how to
spend the rest of your money.
-- 150 users is 150 problems a day for the first 4-6 months-- You'll
need someone on it full time.
In case you can't tell, I don't have much experience. I'm basically just
quoting the
training manuals, and the instructor. Hope that helps. Also, I help
administer a network that is mostly Mac Clients (server = IBM, has to be)
which are very easy to install and config. using Novell 4.1-- A great
option for schools.
