Anyone using a NIC that depends on jumpers should *seriously* consider
tossing it and replacing with either a PnP-compatable or at least one
made in the last three years that use software to configure (e.g. a
3Com 3c5x9-based). Those who "struggle" with a state-of-the-art OS
like Win95, MacOS/7.5x seem to want to install it on 2-3
generations-removed hardware.
