Chuck,
I've also had several problems since upgrading, including the freeze at
startup. So far, it looks like Macintosh Easy Open (Control Panel) may be
part of the problem. Try turning MEO off with the Extensions Manager (or
you can just drag MEO out of the Control Panels folder) and restart and see
if that helps. If you have another freeze, try restarting by pressing the
Control+Cmd+Power Up keys. Then hold down the shift key to keep extensions
from loading.
Other problems I've experienced, that I did not have previously:
When dragging a file to a new folder there seems to be about a one to two
second delay before I can continue.
Rebuilding the Desktop hangs at the same point *unless* extensions are
turned off. Corrupted file?
Once in the Finder I could not double-click a folder to open it; I had to
use the menu. This has happened only once.
In SimpleText I chose Open from the File menu and I was switched to the
Finder with the Hard Drive window opened. This has happened only once.
Maybe these problems can be attributed to other factors, but I did not have
them before upgrading. Any suggestions are appreciated.
BTW, I have a Performa 5200CD, which has performed great until the recent
problems.
