Re: Virex on Performa 6214CD

Aloha,

I had similar problems and had to reinstall Virex on a PowerMac 8100/80. Then I
went to the preferences and had Virex load last (it's a regular menu item).

Most of the files that I've had Error -39 (end of file) needed to be trashed -
reinstalled programs, attempted to salvage text if possible from documents-and
start all over.

Of course, my logic board crashed later, so I don't know if that was part of
the problem. (ever hear the logic board "crash" sound effect built in to the
newer Macs - screeching of tires and crashing of fenders - a frightening sound,
especially through stereo speakers)

Which version of Virex are you using? And did you install it or just copy it?
Are you using AfterDark? Sometimes those 2 don't work well together on some
Macs. Which system are you using? And have you tried turning off extra
extensions and adding them back one-by-one after you are relatively certain
everything is working, until you find the one that causes the problem.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice. Hope some of it helps.

Have a day,
bobk
