Debi,
You did not mention if your labs were networked or not. We have three IIGS
labs in our district which are networked with Digicard, the fastest network
going for Apple II's. We use The Children's Writing and Publishing program
in the lower grades. It is a nice little program which enables kids to drop
in graphics with their text. It can be used with or without a mouse.
I the higher grades, we use Appleworks GS. This program has the look and
feel of any Mac word processor complete with pulldown menus and its totally
mouse driven. It is an excellent bridge to the Mac or Windows environment
we have in the high schools. It runs slow compared to what is our now in
Mac or Windows, but for word processing, it works just fine.
When we first bought it, Claris told us it was not a networkable product,
but it has run fine on our Digicard network. We have been using it for 5
years without any major problems.
