FAREWELL
FROM THE SECRETARY
Dear CLAH members,
What a wonderful four years I
have experienced with the officers and members of CLAH! I want
to take this opportunity say "goodbye" to a group
of friendly, delightful, and very cooperative people.
When I retired from Toledo Public
Schools after 30 years as a teacher and administrator, I did
not think I wanted to work any longer. However, when CLAH offered
me this part-time position, it sounded like just the thing for
me to make my transition from the education field to the golf
and tennis clubs. I still felt young and full of energy and
wanted to continue making my contributions to the world. The
hours were just right, but I never expected to enjoy the work
as much as I did. I suppose it was because I had such great
people to work with. In addition to working with Paul Dosal,
a very pleasant and cooperative supervisor (as well as Ward
Stavig the first year), I had the pleasure of working with Lyman
Johnson, Susan Socolow, and last, but not least, Asunción
Lavrin. This terrific group of people made my job so pleasant;
and in addition, meeting many of you at the last four conferences
makes it even more difficult for me to "give up" CLAH.
I will certainly miss your kind words and friendly smiles and
your humorous and uplifting emails.
Thank you for a very rich and
rewarding experience in allowing me to be part of your very
prestigious organization. I will always remember CLAH and its
extraordinary membership.
Adiós,
Sandy Guthrie
CLAH Secretary
