Tables of contents

At least one other H-NET mailing list has begun posting tables of
contents of journals relevant to its field of history. This alerts list
members to scholarly articles as soon as they appear in print. If enough
members of H-CIVWAR volunteer to post the tables of contents of journals
that publish articles on the Civil War/Reconstruction era, we could do
the same thing on this list.

So -- if you subscribe to or regularly read one or more historical
journals and if you are willing to post the tables of contents here as
soon as new issues appear, let me know (at the Internet address below)
which journals you will cover. If we get enough volunteers to provide
broad coverage, we can start the listings with the fall 1994 issues. The
journals that should be included are the JOURNAL OF AMERICAN HISTORY,
CIVIL WAR HISTORY, AMERICAN HISTORICAL REVIEW, JOURNAL OF SOUTHERN
HISTORY, state historical journals, and various others.

For this to be useful, we will need many volunteers to cover all the
relevant journals. (Of course, you can cover more than one if you
wish.) So, take the initiative now, let me know which journal(s) you
will handle, and start sending those tables of contents.
