The West Tennessee Historical Society is receiving papers for
Volume 48 of its annual journal. The Society traces its antece-
dent organizations to 1847, and it began publishing the profes-
sional journal in 1947. The society exists, "for the purpose of
collecting, assembling, preserving, recording and publishing
documents, information, and other material concerning matters of
history and biography with particular emphasis on that pertaining
to the history of Tennessee, and more especially West Tennes-
see.... "
