I wonder if anyone out there has any information to share about
scanners, particularly hand-held scanners, as a means of "taking
notes" while in archives or just at home.
What is the state of the art in the world of scanners these days, and
how reliable are they for copying printed material?
The askSam database management program I was touting earlier as a good
program for note taking is about to come out with a new Windows version
that will include an OCR (optical character recognition, a means of
converting images into ascii characters) program, which could be used on
scanned data.
