USING CARL'S <REVEAL> SERVICE

1. telnet into database.carl.org (at your system prompt -- or as
advised by your departmental network guru -- type
telnet database.carl.org [ENTER]
2. identify your terminal emulation (select "5" for vt100, the most common)
3. at the next menu, choose 1, "UnCover"
4. ignore the request for "ACCESS PASSWORD" -- just hit [ENTER] [ENTER]
(Note that in the future, you should type in the password you
obtain from this first use of CARL.)
5. when asked to enter the user profile, hit [ENTER] instead
6. you will then be prompted to type NEW to CREATE a new profile.
You should do this. You'll be asked for the following information
(obviously, give your own real name and other info):

Name: Fred Olmsted
E-mail: flo@park.nyc.edu
Address: 1234 Central Park Avenue
[you'll actually be asked for two addresses, if you want]
city/state/country: New York City, New York, USA
Zip or Postal Code: 10010

7. you will also be asked for fax info, phone numbers, and credit card
info. Either type in this information, or just hit [enter] to bypass
them all.

CARL will assign you a profile number and prompt you to select a profile
password. Record both, as you will need them in the future. I would
suggest using the password you use on your current system.
