The Shiloh vs. Shalom issue was discussed on Consim (Conflict Simulation)
from which I cross posted the original question. The observation was made
there that "Shiloh" occurs in English translations of the Bible and may
have been a corruption of the Hebrew word. They have the same root. It
was also speculated that 19th. Century goyim thought Shiloh meant peace.
I have found many 20th. Century Christians who use the words
interchangably, even if they don't mean the same thing. At the moment, I
tend to favor Peter's rationale for the origin of the phrase.
