ANNOUNCING A NEW ELECTRONIC JOURNAL

EJAS-L: ELECTRONIC JOURNAL OF AFRICANA STUDIES
ISSN: 1076-9870

EJAS-L is a biennial, peer-reviewed electronic journal with an editorial
board of African American scholars. EJAS-L communicates scholarly
thought in African American Studies.

The first regular, biennial issue will debut March 1995. When
warranted by the volume and flow of scholarship, special and/or
supplementary issues on emergent themes will be distributed.

EJAS-L is accepting articles. EJAS-L has five sections, one of which is
refereed:

1. Research and applications (refereed)

Peer-reviewed scholarly articles from multiple
sub-disciplines of Pan African Studies on such topics
as analysis, evaluation, applications, (reports
of projects), and other research.

2. Essays and opinions (non-refereed).

3. News, letters, and other discussions (non-refereed)

4. Reviews of print and electronic resources (non-refereed).

5. Pre-prints and Abstracts Distribution (non-refereed).

Articles may be submitted for inclusion in any of the five categories.

Articles submitted for the refereed sections will be blind reviewed by
least two qualified referees.

EJAS-L will be distributed through a listserv fileserver, a ftp site and
a gopher server. Subscribers will be made aware of the available issue
by distribution of a quarterly table of contents to AFAS-L, AFROAM, and
and other e-conferences that request the service.

Form and Style:

1. Use the citation format found in the _American Psychological Association
Association Publication Manual_ or _Chicago Manual of Style_, 14th
edition. Use _to_ indicate underlining and *to* indicate bolding.

2. Do not have any lines that exceed 60 characters in length.

3. Use only ASCII character text, figures, tables, or diagrams.

4. Limit articles, if possible, to no more than 24 pages, including
text, figures, tables, or diagrams. Articles should have no more
than 1,000 lines of text. If an article is more than 1,000 lines
(or 18 pp. of text), it should be submitted in two parts, each of
which may have a maximum of 1,000 lines.

Submission:

Submissions are acceptable only by electronic mail. Submissions may be
made to to ejased@kentvm (BITNET) or ejased@kentvm.kent.edu (INTERNET).

Submissions will usually be acknowledged within 24 hours of receipt.
Reviews will be made within 45 days of receipt.

Language:

The official language of EJAS-L is English. Translations into other
languages for limited issues may be approved by special arrangement.

Deadlines:

Deadlines for the submissions of manuscripts for the reviewed section
will be two months before the next issue, i.e. January 15 (for the March
issue), and July 15 (for the September issue). All manuscripts will be
given at least two blind reviews by a panel of referees. Authors will
be notified within 45 days of submission of acceptance, revision, or
rejection.

Deadlines for the submission of articles for the three non-reviewed
sections will be one month before the next issue, i.e. February 15
(for the March issue), and July 15 ( for the September issue),
submission of acceptance, revisions, or rejection.
