Subject: COMMENT: Sherman on the T
In re Sherman's comment about the war being over by the end of 1863 and the
dastardly behavior of southerner leaders in allowing the war to continue,
two observations:
1. Isn't this exactly what a winner would say?
2. The notion that CSA leadership would give up the whole venture
because of setbacks and increasing difficulties in the enterprise is
ludicrous. They didn't give it up, in fact, until their last means to
resist was eliminated.
