Subject: Vicksburg Map
During the process of deacidification, encapsulation and recataloging
of some elements of our map collection. We encountered a map which
was marked 1863, however we cannot be sure of it's actual publication
date as to wether it is war time or post war.
It is about 32X30 inches.
Titled:
Map of the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, by the U.S. Forces Under
the Command of Maj. Genl. U.S. Grant Vls., Chief Engr. Surveyed and Constructed
under Direction of Capt. C.B. Comstock, U.S. Engrs........
Engraved on stone by J. Schedler, No. 120 Pearl St.,
Issued by the Headquarters of the Dept. of the Tenn., Vicksburg, Miss., Aug.
20th, 1863. C.B. Comstock, Capt of Engrs.
Any information would be appreciated so that we may finally get this item
catalogued.
