Civil War training base

Camp Moore, a major training base for Confederate infantry from
Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi during the Civil War, was opened to
the public on June 1, 1993. Located off Interstate Highway 55 and US
Highway 51 north of New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain, the camp site
also includes a Confederate museum and cemetery. The Camp Moore
Historical Assn. can be reached at (504) 229-2438 in Tangipahoa, LA.
