There are two books that deal with the Acklen family that might be of use
or direct you to other sources. One is Robert Harlin, The Toast of
Tennessee: the author of Steel magnolias takes a look at the greatest of
them all (1988). The second is Albert W. Wardin, Belmont Mansion: the home
of Joseph and Adelicia Acklen (1981). The Acklen's were among the elite of
Nashville, TN. Hope this helps.
