For Paul Cowan and anyone else interested in the Civil War
Re-enactors, there is a national publication that carries
information on re-enactments, queries on people, places, and dates,
etc. This is
The Camp Chase Gazette
P.O. Box 707
Marietta, Ohio 45750
(614) 373-1865
They refer to themselves as the "voice of Civil War re-enactors". It
is a monthly magazine at $3 per copy or $24 per year.
For those of you interested in the MO/KS/IL/AR region, the MCWRA
(Missouri Civil War Re-enactment Association) publishes a newsletter
"Western Campaigner"
P.O. Box 669
Waukomis, OK 73773
The editor is David Christy who can be reached at (405) 758-3255
during the day, and at (405) 758-3886 in the evening.
Just last week, I discovered that a local re-enactment group had
selected my g-grandfather's unit to use as a model. When I contacted
them, I found that I was the only one who had an ancestor who
actually was a member of that unit. The re-enactors were using a
single biographical sketch they had found as a model. We would
greatly appreciate more biographies, so I volunteered to ask is any
of you have such a relative, or know of anyone who belonged to:
9th Battalion Missouri Volunteer Sharp Shooters
(Also known as Pindell's Battalion of Sharp Shooters)
General Mosby Monroe Parson's Brigade
MG Sterling Price's Division
Thanks for your help!
