Dear Colleagues,

One of my undergraduates is doing an honors paper on rather a
difficult topic to research, and I thought I would put out a call for
any leads individuals would care to contribute.

She is interested in slave resistance, specifically as manifested in
controlling female fertility. She is interested in the areas of
contraception, abortion and infanticide. She has done a fairly good
survey of the slave narratives, and of the obvious secondary sources.

Has anyone seen references in published planter sources, diaries,
letters and such, to these practices? She was able to find one
reference in Myers *Children of Pride* to an infanticide trial.
Published sources that she could get a hold of quickly would be most
helpful.

I have no intention of doing research in this area, but I do wish I
could find her some more leads.

Thanks much for your help. You can respond privately if you want to
fitz@stolaf.edu, or publicly via the finnegan@ncsa.uiuc.edu e-mail
address.
