Dear H-Net Participants,

We are seeking to organize a session for the 1995 American Historical
Association conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, to be held Jan. 5-9, 1995.
The theme of our session is "Veterans and Postwar Benefit Systems."
Current session participants include Timothy Haggerty, a Ph.D. candidate
at Carnegie-Mellon University, who plans to present a paper on the social
construction of disability after the U.S. Civil War, and Donald R. Shaffer, a
Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland, College Park, who will give a
paper on the interactions of African American veterans of the U.S. Civil War
with the U.S. Pension Bureau.

We would like to solicite a third participant for the session. We are open
to papers dealing with veterans or their dependents, and postwar benefit
systems from any time or geographic location. If you are interested in
joining our session proposal, please drop a note to either Timothy Haggerty
or Donald R. Shaffer.

Sincerely,

Timothy Haggerty Donald R. Shaffer
