Just a thought-I attended a conference at UW-Madison 8 years ago this
autumn on parlor music of the 19th century. The really outstanding person
there was Neely Bruce, a theory professor and pianist who concertizes
Charles Ives and Stephen Foster. He gave an excellent lecture. I saw his
name in "Rolling Stone" last fall in a list of "with-it" profs. While I
don't remember where he's teaching, you might find his address on the
gopher. I believed he's published on the subject also but am not up to date
on it.

Best regards.
