Hello,

I am a new subscriber here and I wondered if anyone had suggestions on
sentimental songs of the period and how they reflect popular
literature and the society-at-large. I have received some suggestions
on recent recordings by Bobby Horton, Jim Morgan, and the 97th Regimental
String Band, but I would like some guidance on good sources about
popular literature and about contemporary thought. In addition, does
anyone know of any published diaries, memoirs, or letters that discuss
the music, popular literature, or sentimentality of the period? Thank
you in advance for your help!
