Sue et al. You said that the battle was as wash as who (Gettysburg) won.
IMHO you may not be looking far enough ahead. The South without the reserves
and resources that the North possessed was just biding time. Grant's idea
of "total war" was to exact a price the South was want to pay. Truly I would
think that you would see that the South was a clear and obvious "loser" at
Gettysburg. If I have reacted to quickly to this post I apologize.
