WFN Profile
WFN is an inter party project to create opportunities for
Nigerian women to network on national and global women's
issues necessary, to empower women for increased participation
in politics and governance. WFN was co-founded by three
women representing the three political parties in Nigeria.
Representing the PDP is the National Woman Leader, Mrs.
Josephine Anennih, Chief Mrs. Christine Olujimi, the National
Publicity Secretary, of All Peoples Party, and Dr. Stella
O. Dorgu, the National Treasurer of the Alliance For Democracy.WFN
shares the same ideals with such Internationl agencies as
CEDPA, USAID,
UNDP, and UNIFEM
Mission
Our mission is to increase womens participation in the
political process, increase their numbers in elective and
appointive positions, monitor womens contributions in the
political landscape, and encourage women activism.
Goals
Review, adopt and maintain policies and development strategies
that address the needs and efforts of women in politics.
Revise laws and administrative practices to ensure
women's equal rights and access to economic resources
Provide women with opportunities and access to funds for
the attainment of political goals.
Take measures to ensure women's equal access
to and full participation in power structures and
decision-making
Ensure equal access to political /civic education
Eradicate illiteracy among women
Improve women's access to vocational training, health
and nutrition, science and technology, and continuing education.
