Twice yearly. 	La risa en el Quijote y la risa de Don Quijote

			The focus is on those instances in Don Quijote in which Cervantes' comic outlook crystallizes in the form of laughter. Burlesque laughter, however raucous, sometimes serves to foreground laughter of more spontaneous effect, provoked by the unexpected. Laughter interacts with various non-laughable moods and states of mind. Laughter may be expressive of sheer happiness and high spirits. The laughter most characteristic of Cervantes communicates human warmth and understanding. Observable primarily in Don Quixote, it helps to delineate his feeling for Sancho. To his dying day, Cervantes sees himself as the “joyous writer,” taking seriously the implications of that calling. He knows the therapeutic value of laughter, the importance of the relaxation playfulness provides. The recent tendency to see his comic intentions primarily in terms of the burlesque and the satirical overlooks the ludic limits which Cervantes places about the comic in a serious world. It fails to consider the more subtle and benevolent strains of humor in the Quixote, increasingly evident as the work progesses.

			Se sabe que en El retablo de las maravillas Cervantes satiriza, entre otras cosas, la manía de la limpieza de sangre. Sin embargo, si se consideran los sucesos bíblicos contenidos en el retablo dentro del entremés, se nota que evocan horrendos casos de traición ocurridos en al Antiguo Testamento y en el Nuevo. Estas traiciones interiores van encuadradas por dos latinajos (in corbona y ex illis es) evocadores de la traición de Jesucristo que hicieron Judas y Pedro. Por medio de estos recursos el entremés subraya la traición que de la religión cristiana hacen los estatutos de la limpieza de sangre, al distinguir jurídicamente entre cristianos viejos y cristianos nuevos.

	Tragic Reparation in Cervantes' El celoso extremeño

			Se emplea una orientación psicoanalítica para examinar el sentimiento de culpa en “El celoso extremeño.” Los celos del protagonista se interpretan no sólo como manifestación de un deseo triangular, sino a modo de máscara defensiva ante el deseo y agresividad primitivos. El cambio de dirección genérica (de la comedia a la tragedia) señala la iniciación de un proceso de reparación, o de resarcimiento de culpa. Debido a esto, Carrizales logra sostener tal sentimiento de culpa, y abandonar así sus defensas de adquisición obsesiva, y de proyección. A pesar de indicar un paso hacia la salud, la reparación es trágica y parcial; tardía y frustrada, dada la carencia de una confianza básica.

	Death in Cervantes' Galatea

			En este trabajo se examina la aguda preocupación por la muerte que demuestra Cervantes en La Galatea. Casi todos los personajes pastoriles manifiestan el deseo por la muerte; desesperados contemplan el suicidio o causan la muerte de otros. El tema de la muerte se manifiesta tanto en la narración pastoril como también en los cuentos intercalados donde predominan aventuras, pasión, violencia y guerra. El presente artículo tiene por objeto estudiar las implicaciones sociales y didácticas de dicha preocupación por la muerte y a la vez explorar su función artística.
