WE ALL OWE Professor John J. Allen a profound debt of gratitude for the splendid work he has done as founding Editor of Cervantes during the journal's first six years of existence. I am honored to have been chosen as his successor, and I shall do my very best to maintain the high standards he has set for Cervantes.
     Please let me know if you can suggest improvements in the journal. I trust you will continue to send us your best work on Cervantes and help to make our journal a lively forum for discussion and debate about new developments in Cervantes scholarship. We also need your help in encouraging your friends and colleagues to subscribe to Cervantes and in making sure that your college or university library subscribe.
