EXECUTIVE COUNCIL of the Cervantes Society
of America announces the election of Don MARTÍN DE
RIQUER MORERA, Conde de Casa Dávalos,
as the first honorary member of the Society. Dr. RIQUER is
a member of the Real Academia Española, President of the Real Academia
de Buenas Letras of Barcelona, a Corresponding Member of the Real Academia
de la Historia, of the Real Academia Sevillana de Buenas Letras, of the Real
Academia Gallega, of the Centro de Cultura Valenciana, and of the Hispanic
Society of America, an Honorary Member of the Modern Language Association
and of the Accademia di Scienze, Lettere e Arti of Palermo, a Corresponding
Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America, Consejero Adjunto of the Consejo
Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Honorary President of the
Sociedad Española de Literatura General y Comparada, and a member
of the American Philosophical Society.
Professor RIQUER, Doctor en
Filología Románica and Catedrático de Literaturas
Románicas at the University of Barcelona, has published some forty
books and numerous articles on medieval romance literature (Castilian, Catalan,
Provençal, and French), on Spanish literature of the Golden Age, and
on medieval heraldry and armaments.
