European Business History Association—Business History Conference Joint Annual Meeting

Information for Publishers

This year's annual meeting is a joint meeting of the Business History Conference and the European Business History Association. It will take place in Milan, Italy, 11-13 June 2009, hosted by Bocconi University. We invite publishers to participate in our Book and Journal Exhibit; we particularly encourage European-based publishers to take part this year. Because we are holding a combined meeting, we expect a large attendance.

The publishers' exhibit is a combined book and journal table-top display, housed in an area near the meeting rooms to encourage browsing. We would be happy to receive one display copy of each book or journal you wish to exhibit, along with order forms, subscription information, catalogues, brochures, and other handouts. We expect to have enough publishers participating to be able to devote several tables entirely to journals.

We expect approximately 400 people to attend, primarily economists and historians. Members of the BHC and EBHA have interests ranging broadly across the fields of business and economic history. Both organizations are international: scholars from the UK, many European countries, Canada, Japan, and Latin America will attend, as well as academics from several other parts of the world. The theme for the 2009 conference is "Fashions: Business Practices in Historical Perspective." The program is available to assist you in selecting titles appropriate for our memberships.

There is no fee for exhibiting books or journals at the Milan meeting, but we require exhibitors to donate the books and journals they send to the conference for our silent auction.

If you have questions about paid advertising or sponsorship possibilities, please contact BHC Secretary-Treasurer Roger Horowitz for additional information.

Please note that we cannot return books, journals, or any advertising materials to publishers. Therefore, do not send banners, book stands, or other valuable materials; we can accommodate small table-top cardboard stands, such as enlarged jacket images. Publishers may send discount flyers or order forms, but we do not permit selling at the conference.

To assist us in planning, we ask publishers to register, using the form provided. Please print and then mail or fax the form to the address or number indicated on the form no later than May 15, 2009. If you have questions about the exhibit, please contact Carol Lockman via email.

Because the conference venue has limited storage space, books and other materials for the exhibit should be timed to arrive between June 1 and 5, 2009. The shipping address is:
