Submitting to BEH On-Line

As the editor of the journal Business and Economic History On-Line (Papers Presented at the Business History Conference), I invite you to submit your papers for publication in Volume 6 (2008) of the journal. Last year's issue can be found at http://www.thebhc.org/publications/BEHonline/2007/beh2007.html. Our goal this year is to get papers published (posted) as quickly as possible, so we will begin posting them in batches as soon as they have been edited. We aim to have this year's issue completely posted by the end of October 2008.

Papers must be in English and follow our reference style precisely. Papers not in our style will be returned to authors immediately for correction or will be rejected. This is essential to ensure timely publication. The citation style should be the same as that used in the 2007 issue of BEH On-Line. Please use that as a guideline when preparing your papers. See also ( http://www.thebhc.org/publications/BEHonline/behstyle.html). Please pay particular attention to our footnote style (full names, not initials, of authors; month/season and year of publication for journals; place of publication only for books, etc.; no bibliography) While the citation style should be followed strictly, formatting should be kept to a minimum (particularly no headers or footers, please).

Since this is an on-line publication, we encourage authors to include color illustrations (accompanied by permissions when necessary) and Internet links in their papers.

Papers should be submitted to me at wjhaus@wm.edu via electronic file attachment, preferably in Word or rtf format. (Please do not send pdf files, since we must edit all papers.)

Papers published in Business and Economic History On-Line may be revised and submitted to print or refereed on-line journals without seeking specific permission, although the on-line publication in BEH should be acknowledged. Basically, authors may use any of the material in their articles without seeking permission. The BHC will retain the right to reprint articles in print or electronic form without seeking permission of authors. Any residual rights remain with authors.

Papers may be submitted at any time, or as soon after the conference as possible, but no later than the deadline of May 10, 2008, approximately four weeks after the conference.

The editor reserves the right to reject any paper if it does not meet scholarly standards or if it does not conform to style guidelines.
