I appreciate this forum & I'd like to express my interest in organizing or joining a panel for AHA 2025 (deadline 15 Feb. 2024) or OAH 2025 (1 Mar. 2024). 

I am an ABD History student at Penn State Uni & have a fully drafted dissertation on the twin histories of Texas and Yucatán from 1821-1860. I deal in the course & limits of US expansion, the Gulf of Mexico region, systems of unfree labor in Texas & Yucatán, Texas Republic & Yucatán alliance (Yucatán secessionist efforts), the contingencies of the US-Mexico War, and the start of the Caste War in Yucatán

Hello Borderlands Scholars,

Looking for book recommendations around the history of Lotería, it's significance to Chicanx cultural or political history, and/or how it may fit into mestizaje religious history. Also, any recommendations you may have regarding it's role in resistance or pedagogy would be deeply appreciated.

I am a World History PhD student who recently became part of an exciting project around this subject and need to engage more deeply with Lotería history.
