With reference to the posting regarding airport security:

I travel a lot with my laptop computer and I appreciate the advice.
However, this is what I do. I never put my computer on the conveyor belt
to go through the X-Ray machine. The accumulated rays could have an adverse
effect on the computer and the hard drive. I take the computer out of the
case and hand it to an agent who holds it for me as I go through the
metal detector. When I am through I take it and turn it on for
inspection. I never take my eyes off the computer since it is never hidden from
me inside the machine.
