Patrick O'Meara (Dean, International Programs, Indiana University) made a special trip to Nashville to introduce Sieber at the ceremony; he noted that Sieber was the first person in the U.S. to earn a Ph.D. in African Art History and cited Sieber's many accomplishments throughout his long career.
