Mission Statement

The ANC Archives will exist for the following reasons:

  • To preserve records which reflect the history of one of the oldest liberation movements in Africa, the ANC.

  • To make available to scholars source material on the history of the ANC and on the culture of ideas reflected in th internal documents-hence facilitating research programs and paving the way for the writing of new South African history.

  • To create a living archive that will lead to various educational programs geared towards the empowerment of previously disadvantaged communities.

  • To encourage partnerships with community, cultural and educational groups.
