One of our English-speaking teachers is going to retire in March 1996 so we
will be in need of someone who can take his plece. An applicant is deemed
qualified if he or she:
(1) is a native speaker of English;
(2) is below thirty-five years old;
(3) has a Ph.D. or M.A. in humanities
(4) has some experience of teaching English as a foreign or a second
language;
(5) can teach English communication skills including writing plus one
allied discipline (e.g., linguistics, literature, history, politics,
or economics).
The applicant, if successful, will:
(1) have an annual salary of around 6,600,000 yen to 7,600,000 yen
(approximately $66,000 to $76,000 per year) according to his/her
age, experience and educational background.
(2) be employed on a one-year basis, the contract being renewable up to
four times.
(3) be provided with a three-room flat at a nominal fee.
(4) start teaching in April 1996;
(5) teach seven classes per week, 30 weeks per year, four in the day and
three in the evening;
(6) have no administrative duties except at entrance examinations.
