Right off the top of my head you could consider (realize I am a 19th and
20thc person): Aidan Clarke's article on the Ulster Rising of 1641 in a
collection of essays PLANTATION TO PARTITION (I can't recall the editor
but the collection was published in the early 80s; Clarke also had an
article in PAST AND PRESENT ca 1971 or on the "general crisis"; St. J. D.
Seymour has an oldie but still essential THE PURITANS IN IRELAND,
1647-1661; David Stevenson has an interesting cross work SCOTTISH
COVENANTERS AND IRISH CONFEDERATES; see T.C. Barnard's CROMWELLIAN
IRELAND from the mid 1970s. On the Glorious revolution most of the
important work is that of J.G. Simms including his: THE WILLIAMITE
CONFISCATION OF IRELAND; THE TREATY LIMERICK; THE JACOBITE PARLIAMENT OF
1689; JACOBITE IRELAND; THE PATRIOT PARLIAMENT OF 1689. See too Thomas
Davis's THE PATRIOTIC PARLIAMENT OF 1689??. The military history is just
developing steam and I would recommend a look through the bib in
SEVENTEENTH CENTURY IRELAND by Brendan Fitzpatrick.
The last work is your best source of material in any case.
