Interesting work has been done by Susan Hardman Moore on 17th c. movement
back to England from America during the civil war and
Commonwealth. Her Ph.D. thesis is at the University of Kent (Canterbury)
but I am afraid I don't have a full reference, the British Institute of
Historical Research list of Theses should have it. You can contact
