I'm not sure if this is directly along the lines of superstition, but it might
be helpful - Janet Oppenheim's *The Other World: Spritualism and Psychical
Research in England 1850-1914* Her bibliography is a goldmine of sources on
questions related to popular religion and there is probably some superstition
thrown in.
