1 Pound 1890 = 5 dollars 1890
and
1 Dollar 1890 = 100 dollars 1990 is
correlated with Charles Booth's definition of the Poverty
Line in 1890 at 19-21 shillings/week: then the translated (1990)
value should be a poverty line figure of $500/week not the
$100/week I originally posted (math was never my strong point).
But now this corrected figure comes to $25,000/year which
still leaves me dissatisfied and in search of more reliable figures.
Any help would still be welcome and I apologize for my messy math.
