Dear Anita,
At Auburn we break British history into three courses: Romans - c.1453;
c. 1453 - c. 1782; and c. 1782 - present. All the end-points are, of
course, arbitrary, but for what it's worth, we decided that the fall of
Guienne made the first natural break and the fall of the first empire (as
a result of the American Revolution) made a good second.
